“When it is time for you to venture out, do not let fear have you looking back at what you are leaving behind.”-Author Unknown
There has never been any doubt that moving homes can be one of the most stressful events in your life.
While the idea of having a new home to move into is certainly an aspect worth anticipating, the transition process would not exactly make for an event that you would look forward to. Apart from having years upon years-worth of belongings to pack and unload, you would require the services of a professional mover to ensure your moving day goes without a hitch. Moreover, hiring the services of a professional mover would make your move from your old home to your new one as seamless as possible.
If a scheduled move is coming up anytime soon--whether that may be to a unit in Park Central Towers or elsewhere--make the transition a little less crazy and more enjoyable by being prepared. Before moving day and on moving day itself, keep your sanity by planning ahead. Here are some of the things to consider if you wish to mitigate the chances of having a taxing moving out process:
1.) Manage packing smartly
Packing smartly can mean various things to different people. For some, it might involve having a strategic plan wherein they would need to pack a daily box quota so as to avoid having a tedious and demanding weekend of non-stop sorting, organizing and packing. Others might choose a more traditional approach in packing by categorizing belongings first before packing them into boxes. Whatever your packing style might be, just make sure to find a rhythm you can stick to. To avoid being overwhelmed by packing duties, you can stagger your packing tasks wherein you have a weekly quota of accomplished packed boxes to meet as opposed to packing all of them at once before moving day.2.) Do not pack your closet
…or at least, save it for last. You are still going to need your clothes, after all, so you might want to pack your closet at least a week before your scheduled move. Alternatively, you can just select a number of clothes you can wear in rotation weeks or months leading up to the move. In this regard, you would be able to take care of your closet packing task weeks or even months prior to your moving date without having to worry about not having enough clothes to wear.3.) Skip the cardboard boxes
While packing our things in cardboard boxes seems like the traditional medium for the conveyance of our belongings from one home to another, you might want to skip it altogether and opt for a smarter alternative. Scour the internet for companies whose advocacy is hinged on having zero waste and rent their sturdy boxes that come with attachable lids. More often than not, these companies would drop off these boxes and would then collect them once you are done. Apart from ensuring that you get to contribute to a more sustainable earth, it would effectively dispense with the need for taping, bubble wrap, and cardboard boxes. Eco-friendly and cheap, plus you do not have any real use for those cardboard boxes once you have settled in any way, so why not try this better alternative?4.) Switch your utilities
This should go without saying but once you have a move-in date in mind, call the utility companies and ask them to do set up a service switch. Doing a service switch is a pivotal task to keep in mind most especially if you are moving into a home that is newly built or was never previously occupied. In this regard, calling for maintenance might be necessary in order to install or reinstate the service. Remember, timing is key, and you would not wish to move into a home that is without running water or electricity. So, with this in mind, make that call once you have a closing and moving date behind so that once you are moved in and settled, you would not have unnecessary surprises such as lights not turning on or not running water.5.) Make the moving process as easy on your little ones as possible
For your kids, moving can either be an exciting or daunting prospect. While the young ones might be more accepting of the move, you will likely meet some resistance with your older ones—especially if they grew up in one home all of their life. They are going to miss their neighborhood friends and might even personify the house. Resultantly, they would be sad to leave it behind. However, you can ease them into the idea of the move by introducing them to exciting new prospects they can look forward to in their new home. Furthermore, make sure that they get to immortalize their fond memories of your old home by taking photos or videos of their favorite places.Image Source
