Or even ask you to put the decorations that you already have installed down since it is not good for your future? Then here’s what, we are now living in the modern times. Gone are the days when we have to believe superstitious when it comes to home decorating.

Well basically, there are some reasons why we have all those superstitious. But believing all of it will not make us better in doing what we want to do in life and in our own home. While other people are trying to ignore the fact that it might not be true, others are already open to changes and be better way they can be.

If you are one of those people who are willing to bust the myths that we have known, then here are some of the myths that we need to know in order for us to change the habit of believing such superstitious.

Myth #1: Ceilings must be white
The typical ceiling that you will notice in most houses is going to be white. Of course, white is the symbol of clean and simple look that usually creates a sense of lightness above, making the room appear taller. Well today, if you want to change it, then there are a lot of alternatives in coloring your ceilings. If you want your ceilings to look bright, then you can definitely have a pastel colors – aside from white.  Moreover, bright colors, patterns, accessories can all be terrific options for ceilings when done properly.

Myth #2: Small rooms shouldn’t be painted dark colors
How many of you here heard that painting your room with dark colors, especially with black is a sign of bad luck? Well, I think most of us heard about it already from our grandparents, and/or even from our parents. Nope! Painting your room with dark colors is usually the advice for creating a sense of space in small rooms, but that doesn’t mean it is always the right answer. There are sometimes that small rooms can also benefit from dark or bold colors. Of course, not only that can be incredibly cozy but also, deep colors can be deep and dramatic, giving a small room a much bigger presence.

Myth # 3: Neutrals are always safe
Unfortunately, what we usually believe that painting our walls and/or ceiling in neutral colors are always safe is definitely not always safe thing to have. When not done properly, neutrals can be bland, boring and lifeless – and the worst thing a room can be is bland and boring. However, if you really want and choose to decorate your walls and/or ceilings with neutral colors, you just have to make sure to address its tone, texture, depth and shape. If you fail to address any of these features and/or issues, then you will definitely have a boring and lifeless room. And I’m sure you don’t want to have that kind of room, right?

Myth # 4: Wood finishes should match
There might be some of you here who believe that all the wood finishes in a room and/or any other rooms in the house should match with each other. Well, it is partly not true, since mixing woods would help create a sense of depth and interest in any space of your house. However, you just have to make sure that the colors complement each other. For instance, woods with red tones don’t go well with woods that have orange tones. Like with any other decorating elements, they need to be complemented to achieve nicer and of your desired outcome.

Myth # 5: Small rooms need small furniture
This is one of the biggest mistakes most homeowners make with their small rooms. Sometimes, if not most of the times, they are trying to squeeze in too many small pieces of their furniture. Instead, it is better to accept that there are such limitations o the space that you have provided. Moreover, cramming in too many pieces makes a small room look even smaller. So, you better try not to include things that are not that useful to you inside you room.

You better have a list of your priority for you to know what to buy first. Of course, you also have to include the style and/or the design of the particular thing that you want to have.

Step two: Set up price watching
When you need a lot of stuff, searching through the web many times per day can get pretty tedious. On top of that, you should look for sales from the actual furniture stores as well. Of course, there are certain stores that have the same items but they differ in prices. Well, if you really want to buy it, then you really can buy it without spending too much of your money. Sometimes, what you think that is already cheap enough is still not cheap with the other furniture stores. They may have the same items that you want to have and buy, yet they vary with their price. Of course, the quality of the product is still the same. So, you don’t have to worry too much when you buy a particular thing with a lower cost since it will still not compromise its quality.

Step four: Plan your pick ups

Whether you purchase your used furniture from a store or from regular people, there will always be a need for you to pick it up yourself. This also means that you have to rent a van or truck to haul the large items into your home. Of course, you also have to plan the extra expenses for the rental budget. Unless, if the store offers a delivery, then it might be on your advantage since you don’t have the hassle in finding a rental for a van.
