The workload, deadline, and the demands of the job can take the life of every individual each day. If you're in a highly competitive corporate environment, the day will make you forward to home, curl in bed or binge-watch an entire season of Friends. Unfortunately, adults don’t roll like that (most specifically the professionals). They learned that the hustle and bustle will always be part of life through the years of grinding.

Even if you aren’t in the high ranks or at the top spot, you must consider yourself a professional. It doesn't matter if you're dealing with clients over coffee at 6750 Ayala or tracking fast-moving consumer goods. It is now part of your life to look forward to your day at the office. That way, you will be excited about new things you can discover. The solution is a case-to-case basis, but there's an immediate solution to change your perspective.

Revamp Your Workplace

It’s the easiest and fastest way to give yourself a boost when you don’t feel like spending time at work. If you have authority over a team, department or constituents, you may implement a visual management system such as the 5S philosophy to sort stuff, organize and set standards to follow. If not, you can create changes in your space. You can improve your cubicle or work set up by trying out these office improvement tips.

1. Spread positivity by having tiny decors.

Display an item or a handful of memorabilia that make you feel good inside. If you are into arts and crafts, you may bring your finished work in the office. An illustration on canvas or paper looks good on a simple frame. Hang it on the wall next to the calendar or notepad. It will serve as a mini treat whenever you feel overwhelmed. Sculpture, carving, figurine or handcraft is best on the desk or table. A glimpse of these pieces will inspire you to get you back on track of your list of must-dos.

If your display has bold color, avoXX id placing it in a spot attracting attention. It may also distract the client during critical negotiations. Also, some decorations aren't applicable for the office. If you want a safe bet, you can try matching the decor with the room's existing design. Minimal decorations are your safest bet.

2. Increase efficiency and productivity by rearranging floor layout.

Often, the floor layout is to blame for the ruckus in the office. The copy machine is on the top floor, the only printer on the floor is on the other side of the room, and the filing cabinets are near the entrance. At the same time, your desks and cubicles almost resemble a maze. It takes a few minutes before you reach your station. Worse, your seat is at the back of a door. It crowds the entrance while the people coming in and out keeps you from accomplishing your tasks. The same is true when a co-worker shares a table with you.

Provide enough room for each person in the working area. The distance between desks and chairs must be consistent in all coworking spaces. Remember to place your desk in a location with a full view of the room or the floor. Other than the distance, the room layout is also important to make you efficient during work hours. It takes less time when everything you need to accomplish the job is within arm’s reach. The printer, photocopier and a cabinet full of supplies should be a few steps from your desk or placed in the same area where you work.

3. Prioritize wellness by adding a lamp and some fresh flowers.

Proper lighting decreases the dark areas of the space. Dim working areas may cause eye fatigue and headaches. Thus, ensure there is ample lighting especially when most of your working day is in front of a screen. The right kind of light and fixture allows you to work with ease.

If you’re in no position to request changes on the overhead light, get a desk lamp. A lamp of your own allows you to adjust the direction of the source of light. Choose a bulb that doesn’t use fluorescent light. The static and bluish light of fluorescents causes headaches which gradually drains energy. Select a desk light that will make your working day a piece of cake.

To invigorate the ambiance in the space, add a bunch of flowers. You can also opt for indoor plants to refresh the air and get rid of the pollutants. Since most offices use AC, a ventilation system will shift the odor and stagnant air. If not, the plants will do it for you free of charge. Meanwhile, the smell of the flowers energizes your senses while its color provides a break from the monotony of the office.

4. Give life by encouraging your workmates to do the same.

Let other people know you're making changes. Involving others strengthens your commitment and drive to reach your goal. Invite your colleagues to modify your working area to improve your quality of work and days at the office. That way, everyone will look forward to each working day and tackle each task with a smile on their faces.

You can also apply these changes to your home office. You can DIY or hire an interior designer to help you with rearranging the floor layout. Ensure your decorator knows and understands the concept of what you wish to achieve before making any changes. Successful implementation and office layout will change your perspective on the nature of your work.
