4 Ways To Combat Self-Inflicted Stress

Everyone experiences stress one way or another.
It comes in different forms and manifests in profound ways. Still, some things remain true. A few stressors in the office are the person's doing.

Being closed-off from colleagues and remaining anti-social is a choice. The same is true with working in a serviced office Makati. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of the effects of the choices they make.

It helps when the person is aware of their stress-inflicting actions. If you have a grasp of your daily habits or still learning from them, you can follow these four ways to strike them out of your system.

1. Brushing-off feedbacks

Closing yourself from feedbacks keeps you from having a growth mindset. Being unable to hear or receive the opinion or impression of others regarding your work ethic prevents you from reaching your potential.

You won't know if your performance sucks unless you open the topic to your boss and co-workers. It helps to be curious how people perceive you. That way, you get a different point of view from your own. Lower your defenses and accept comments and constructive criticism.

When asking for feedback, be ready for what they will tell you. Remain open to all ideas while keeping in mind that only you have the power to control how you react towards them. You don't have to follow and change yourself into what they want you to be. You can always choose the way to run your life.

2. Undermining the capacity to accomplish daily tasks

The workload in a job never ends. Something new comes up every day. Next week, it's as if the world resets itself and your back to zero. The cycle can take a toll on a person's confidence level and self-esteem when they get behind their work.

Giving your attention to the things you still need to do instead of focusing on the tasks you've done will drag you down. This kind of thinking pushes your stress levels to their limit.  Instead of shedding light on the negative, why not look at the positive?

List five things you accomplished before you clock out each workday. You can also include the tiding you encountered on that day. Read the entry the following day. The words will help you gain confidence as they are similar to words of affirmations. If you are running out of juice, you can check your past entries to shift your perspective.

3. Staying in for extended hours

Staying indoors for too long will make you feel stuffy. Eating lunch at your desk is already a form of disruption. It becomes worse when you eat lunch alone. Having lunch while sneaking work now and then also adds to the pile of stress on your back.

To bounce back from the pressure of work, think of meals as downtime. Step away from your desk to recharge your energy. Make eating time sacred as you replace the lost nutrients in your body.

4. Bringing work at home

You disrupt the peaceful energy in your home when you work in areas of rest. Working past the clock and planning your next set of actions on your bed minimizes the space you have for comfort. Working at home also trains your brain to associate the house with the extension of the workplace.

To avoid such inflicted stress, leave whatever you need to finish in your office desk. Maximize your time in the office to stay on top of your tasks.

Besides focusing on yourself, having a support system at home and in the workplace are helpful to achieve your end goal. Building your inner self and fostering discipline are the ways to combating stress. Last but not the least, be kind and gentle to yourself.
