5 Ways To Improve The Quality of Your Sleep

Being close to home is supposed to make you have a better sleep. A house and lot for sale, Cavite or Laguna that has a spacious bedroom was a great bargain but is still bare of the sleep necessities.

If sleep is the last thing on your mind, you need a better bed, sleep accessories and a calming environment. Apply these five ways to improve the quality of your sleep.

Ways to improve sleep quality

1. Have a spacious bed

Sleep is the best thing you can do for your body. The mind and body can't function well when it lacks sleep. Do yourself a favor and aim for six to eight hours of shut-eye each night.

If you have a hard time spending time in bed, it may be due to a stiff mattress. Upgrade the size and mattress of your bed. Splurge on a full-sized bed especially if the budget permits. Purchase a high-quality mattress as the worn-out one can be too soft. A soft and lanky mattress may not offer enough support the body needs. A firm mattress helps with spine alignment. At the same time, it can provide the right fluff that your body needs.

Once you replace your previous bed with the right size and mattress, position the new one in a place where it becomes a command point. Leave enough space on the sides of the bed so people can have access to it.

2. Prioritize bed accessories

Consider your existing pillows, bed spreads and beddings. Are they comfortable to use? Do you wake up refreshed after using them?

Bed sheets and pillow covers also affect the quality of our sleep. Starchy sheets can be itchy and harsh on the skin. Hard fabrics can thick and hot, which makes us twist and turn during sleep. As much as possible, choose thin and lightweight fabrics made of organic cotton. Cotton fabrics allows the air to circulate and gives our body a chance to breathe.

Other than the covers, make sure you have enough pillows. The bed should have pillows for two people. The pillows should not be too high lest they strain your neck while sleeping.

3. Remove the things under the bed

There should be no unnecessary things in the bedroom. The stuff in the room subconsciously activates different parts of the brain to work which may be the reason you can’t fall asleep. The bedroom should be a place where your mind can relax and enter hibernation.

During the day, remove all the things that remind you of work. Books, paperwork, and electronics are better in an office or desk in a different room. Try not to store anything under the bed. If you must, keep the things that are related to sleep such as extra pillows, bed sheets, covers and the likes.

4. Paint with calming colors

The bedroom should have relaxing colors which signal your brain to sleep. Colors with blue undertones such as dark purple, seafoam green and gray relax the body. The colors lower the heart rate and blood pressure which stabilizes breathing and places the body in a state of rest. Other colors you can use are green, brown and other earth tones.

5. Use plants and essential oils

Plants are helpful in a room. They replace the air inside and keep the space smelling fresh. At the same time, it gives a sign of life. The color of plants also gives a soothing effect to anyone who sees it. Have a small succulent or flowering plant by the corner or near the window.

If plants are not your type, have an aromatherapy diffuser. The diffuser uses essential oils and spreads it across the bedroom. The smell of the essential oils will get rid of any bad smell in the room. The oils come in different types that can lift the mood and soothe the senses. Make yourself feel good by engaging your sense of smell.

Having the right bed size with enough pillows and comfortable sheets are some ways to improve your sleep. The state of the room also contributes to better sleep. A messy room can drain your energy and disrupt sleep. However, a clear view and a fresh-smelling room give a calm energy which makes shut-eye easier. The five ways energize your body and refresh your mind.
